1. Structural composition and meshing mechanism
Double sprocket and common chain
The chain coupling consists of two sprockets with the same number of teeth and a common roller chain. The two sprockets are fixed on the driving shaft and the driven shaft respectively, and the power transmission is realized through the meshing of the chain.
Roller-chain tooth meshing principle
The roller of the chain is embedded in the sprocket tooth groove, and the torque is transmitted through rolling contact to reduce friction loss.
The inner and outer links of the chain are alternately meshed: when the inner link sleeve contacts the sprocket teeth, it is a rigid transmission; when the roller and the tooth groove are meshed, a slight radial offset compensation is allowed.
2. Transmission characteristics and advantages
Efficient power transmission
No elastic sliding: The meshing transmission avoids the problem of belt slippage, the transmission ratio is accurate, and the efficiency can reach more than 98%.
High load-bearing capacity: The metal chain can transmit large torque (such as GL type coupling can reach tens of thousands of Newton meters).
Displacement compensation capability
Radial offset compensation: The flexible design of the chain allows a radial deviation of ≤1.3% of the wheelbase between the two axes.
Angular offset compensation: The maximum angular deviation is usually ≤1° (the angle needs to be controlled to avoid tooth skipping).
