Diaphragm Couplings

Diaphragm couplings are high-performance flexible couplings that transmit torque through the elastic deformation of metallic diaphragms. These diaphragms, typically made from stainless steel or high-strength alloy steel, are mounted between two hubs and allow torque transmission through torsion and bending without physical contact or lubrication. This design enables precise, backlash-free transmission, making it suitable for high-speed and high-precision machinery.

Diaphragm couplings are commonly classified into single-diaphragm and multiple-diaphragm types based on their structure. The single-diaphragm type is ideal for systems with minimal axial misalignment, while the multiple-diaphragm type, equipped with a spacer sleeve, offers better angular and radial misalignment compensation. Typical applications include turbines, compressors, and high-precision machine tools where rotational accuracy and shaft alignment are critical.
