RSK-GIICLZ Type Intermediate Shaft Drum Gear Coupling is an enhanced variant of the GICLZ series, specifically designed for heavy-duty, ultra-long-distance drive systems. This model features reinforcements in critical areas such as the high-strength intermediate shaft and thickened gear ring, providing higher torque capacity and impact resistance. It is suitable for heavy-load power transmission applications with stringent demands for drive reliability, service life, and extreme misalignment compensation, such as metallurgical continuous casters, port cranes, and large-scale mining conveyors.

I. Core Advantages (Compared to Spur Gear Couplings)

Excellent Angular and Radial Misalignment Compensation

Barreled Design: The outer edges of the external teeth are machined into a spherical (barreled) shape, providing larger backlash.
Effect: Allows the internal and external teeth to mesh at larger angles and accommodates certain radial offsets. Typically, angular compensation can reach 1°30′, and radial compensation is significantly better than spur gear couplings. This is its most fundamental advantage.

High Load Capacity, Low Wear, Long Service Life

Surface Contact: Under misalignment, barreled teeth maintain surface contact, avoiding the edge loading and stress concentration common in spur teeth.
Effective Load Distribution: The load is distributed more evenly across the tooth width, reducing pressure per unit area.
Effect: Greatly increases the coupling's load capacity and shock resistance while reducing wear and extending service life.

Automatic Alignment and Self-Centering Capability

The spherical meshing characteristic of barreled teeth provides a degree of "self-adaptability." It can automatically adjust for minor misalignment caused by installation errors or foundation settling, protecting the bearings of connected equipment.

II. Structural and Other Characteristics

Compact Structure, High Torque Transmission

For the same size, barreled gear couplings can transmit higher torque, offering high volumetric efficiency.

Requires Lubrication and Sealing

Lubrication: As a rigid movable coupling, its tooth surfaces require good lubrication (typically oil or grease) to minimize wear and heat generation.
Sealing: Standard equipment includes seals such as O-rings or lip seals to prevent lubricant leakage and ingress of external contaminants. The reliability of the seal directly impacts the coupling's lifespan.

High Reliability, Suitable for Harsh Conditions

Due to their durability, RSK-GIICL-type couplings are widely used in applications involving continuous operation, heavy loads, medium to high speeds, and slight misalignment. Examples include: metallurgical rolling mills, mining machinery, heavy lifting equipment, marine propulsion systems, and generators.
