It is a non-metallic flexible element coupling that transmits torque through pins and elastic bushings.
Its core working principle utilizes the compressive deformation of rubber (or polyurethane) elastic bushings to transmit torque, and leverages their elasticity to compensate for misalignment, absorb vibration, and shock. With its simple structure, it is one of the most widely used couplings in the field of small-to-medium power, medium-to-low speed transmission, often referred to as the "Standard Coupling".
The structure of the Type LT coupling is very simple, consisting mainly of the following components:
Two Half-Couplings: Typically made of cast iron (HT200) or cast steel (ZG270-500), resembling flanges with a ring of pin holes around the periphery.
Elastic Bush (Bushing): The core component. Usually made of rubber or polyurethane, it is a cylindrical shape with a flange. It is installed in the pin holes of the driven half-coupling. The pin passes through the central hole of the elastic bush, thereby flexibly connecting the two half-couplings.
Retainer Plate (Optional): Used to axially secure the elastic bushes and prevent them from falling out.
Structural performance:
Due to the gap between the elastic sleeve and the circular hole on the flange of the half coupling, as well as the deformation of the elastic sleeve, the coupling has a certain degree of compensation for relative displacement and shock absorption performance.
Key Characteristics:
Simple Structure, Low Cost
Few parts, mature manufacturing process, very low manufacturing cost and price, offering outstanding economy.
No Lubrication Required, Easy Maintenance
Contains no friction pairs with relative sliding, requires no addition of oil or grease, qualifying as a maintenance-free coupling (only requiring periodic inspection).
Possesses Some Compensation and Damping Ability
Easy Installation
The rubber elastic bush can provide a degree of electrical insulation
Primary Application Fields:
The LT type is a classic "General-Purpose Economical" coupling, suitable for non-demanding applications with low requirements for transmission precision and dynamic performance, moderate power, and relatively clean environments, such as:
Connections between motors and driven machines in fans, pumps, and other general machinery (most common).
Light conveyors, mixers, agricultural machinery.
Small-to-medium compressors, generator sets.
Various light industrial machinery where cost is a sensitive factor.
