The core characteristic of the RSK-lx type is: The pins themselves (nylon components) serve as the primary load-bearing members for torque, while the elastic rings are primarily for cushioning and compensation.
Basic Structure
Its structure is simple and symmetrical, primarily consisting of the following components:
Two Half-Couplings: Typically made of cast steel (ZG270-500) or cast iron (HT250). The mating faces feature centering spigots to ensure installation alignment, and a set of evenly distributed cylindrical holes around the circumference.
Nylon Pins: Made of high-strength Nylon 6 (PA6) or MC cast nylon, known for being wear-resistant, self-lubricating, high-strength, and lightweight. They are the core load-bearing components for torque transmission.
Elastic Rings: Usually made of neoprene rubber or polyurethane. They are fitted over the pins and sit between the pin holes of the two half-couplings. Their function is to provide elastic deformation, absorb vibration and shock, and allow for minor relative displacement.
Retainer Plates and Fasteners: Including metal retainer plates, spring washers, nuts, etc., used to axially secure the pin assembly and prevent dislodgement.
Power Transmission Path: Torque → Driving Half-Coupling → Nylon Pins (in compression) → Elastic Rings (under shear deformation) → Driven Half-Coupling.
Structural performance:
Nylon is used for elastic components, which has high strength and wear resistance, and is suitable for corrosive environments.
The outer surface of the steel brake wheel has undergone quenching treatment.
The operating temperature ranges from -20 ℃ to+70 ℃.
Key Characteristics
Simple Structure, Cost-Effective:
Few parts, mature manufacturing processes, making it one of the most cost-effective coupling types.
Lubrication-Free, Low Maintenance:
Contains no metal friction pairs, requires no addition of oil or grease during operation, achieving almost "zero maintenance", only needing periodic inspection.
Good Vibration Damping and Cushioning Performance:
The rubber/polyurethane elastic rings effectively absorb torsional vibration and moderate shock loads, protecting drive equipment like motors and gearboxes.
Possesses Some Misalignment Compensation Capability:
Can compensate for small axial (relying on clearance between pins and holes), radial, and angular misalignment (typically angular ≤ 0.5°).
Electrical Insulation:
Both nylon pins and rubber rings are insulating materials, which can interrupt shaft current paths and prevent bearing electrical erosion.
Lightweight, Low Moment of Inertia:
The low density of nylon pins minimizes their impact on the coupling's start-stop characteristics.
Easy Installation:
Positioning via spigots allows relatively relaxed requirements for installation alignment.
Primary Application Fields
Connection between motors and driven machines in fans, pumps, air compressors, and other general fluid-handling equipment (most typical application).
Light conveyors, mixers, packaging machines, agricultural machinery.
Small to medium generator sets, compressor units.
Various light industrial, chemical machinery where cost is sensitive and operating conditions are mild.
